Its leaves are mainly used in phytotherapy, especially for its richness in essential oils, potassium, flavonoids and polyphenols. Given the amount of potassium it has, it is a very powerful diuretic , being indicated to accelerate weight loss in weight control and weight loss regimens.

Not to mention that its richness in flavonoids stimulates the elimination of fat accumulated in the cells, in turn increasing the renal elimination of liquids. It also helps to eliminate both urea and uric acid (reduces uric acid), while favoring the elimination of kidney and gallstones due to its draining action.
