Alaïa

Azzedine Alaïa was born in Tunisia in 1940 and through her glamorous twin sister and a French friend of her mother's, she began to feel attracted to fashion and haute couture. After studying sculpture at the Tunis School of Fine Arts, he moved to Paris where he worked as a tailor for important designers such as Christian Dior, Guy Laroche and Thierry Mugler, until he opened a tiny workshop in a small apartment he rented. During the 80s, he was dressing greats of the show almost in silence, such as the actress Greta Garbo herself. Currently, he has been established as a renowned designer of haute couture, shoes and perfumes.
