Gloria Vanderbilt studied Art in New York and became known for her work as an artist, so much so that the Hallmark and Bloomcraf companies acquired her designs in 1968 for their postcards and clothing. In 1976 Mohan Murjani's Murjani offered him to launch his own line of jeans, these jeans were characterized by being very flattering for women since they were tighter than those that were usually worn at that time. A few years later, she would present her first collections of dresses, blouses, shoes, accessories, bedding, leather goods, liquors, and perfumes. In 1978 Vanderbilt became independent from the Murjani Group and in 1982 it joined L'Oréal with whom it released eight Vanderbilt fragrances under the name of Gloria Vanderbilt.
