L-carnitine is an amino acid derived from lysine and methionine , which is found preferentially in meat
and dairy. This amino acid is accompanied by 10 mg of pantothenic acid as dexpanthenol. This nutrient, once converted into pantothenic acid, behaves as a precursor of coenzyme a, which in turn is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. This blend of free carnitine and pantothenic aids in energy production and fat metabolism, and promotes recovery from exercise.

The heart relies primarily on fat for energy, not carbohydrates, and about 60-70% of the energy used by the heart comes from the breakdown of fatty acids in the mitochondria.
