Brazil nuts, coconuts, sesame seeds, legumes and whole grains are some of the best plant sources of selenium, while beef, veal and chicken, as well as egg yolks, herring, tuna, Redfish and trout are good animal sources of selenium. However, since the selenium content in food is highly dependent on the soil, which in Germany is poor in selenium, an additional supply of selenium may make sense. If there is a higher selenium requirement or a selenium deficiency , we recommend supplementing with capsules, especially interesting for people with thyroid disease and for vegans!
