What is SALFresh?

SALfreshvso -68 is the first 100% traceable and sustainable fish oil product, and the first pure , pressed virgin fish oil from salmon to contain all natural Omega 3 fatty acids , as well as phospholipids, antioxidants such as astaxanthins and fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

Unlike other salmon oils, SALfreshvso-68 oil is made only from pure salmon sourced north of the Arctic Circle in Lofoten and Vesterålen, Norway, where fresh Arctic sea water, strong ocean currents, and low Water temperatures create the ideal conditions for raising healthy salmon.

Pure and Fresh, Healthier than Oxidized

Obtaining a pure and fresh product is important to prevent oxidation of these sensitive oils. A recent study examined how different grades of oxidized oils and fresh oils influence various cell cultures:

  1. Rancid/oxidized oils inhibit normal cell growth; the higher the oxidation, the higher the inhibition.
  2. In fresh oils, EPA, DHA, DPA and monounsaturated (MUFA) levels are better introduced into cells, compared to EPA and DHA in oxidized oils. The presence of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) improves the absorption of EPA/DHA up to five times more in blood.
  3. The level of phospholipids contained in the cells is higher in fresh oil compared to oxidized oils.
  4. The cells' antioxidant defense, as measured by SOD (superoxide dismutase) activity, was radically suppressed by the oxidized oils, and cells exposed to the oxidized oil took 72 hours to recover.
  5. Cell levels of TBARS (harmful substances formed by lipid peroxidation) were 200-300 times higher in oxidized oils compared to fresh oils.
  6. Rancid/oxidized oils increase inflammation.
