Boost Plus Energy Gel GoldNutrition is an energy gel with a high content of caffeine, sodium and fast-release carbohydrates, designed for the most critical moments when an injection of energy is necessary.
40 gr gel.
Salted caramel.
Consume 1 gel per hour of resistance exercise; It is essential to drink at least 250 ml of water for each gel consumed.
Carbohydrates
In prolonged exercises, with an intensity greater than 60% of VO2 maximum, carbohydrates are essential for energy production, and muscle glycogen depletion (main source of energy for exercise) begins after the first hour. Thus, carbohydrate intake during exercise can delay fatigue by at least 45 minutes. Boost Plus Energy Gel GoldNutrition® combines two types of carbohydrates, maltodextrin and fructose, with a 2:1 ratio between glucose and fructose. Glucose and fructose use different transporters to pass from the intestine into the bloodstream. When glucose is consumed in amounts greater than 60 g/h, its transporter becomes saturated, leading to gastrointestinal disorders, which cause decreased physical performance. Therefore, this combination allows a better use of energy, which has been verified in various sports modalities.
Maltodextrin is a type of carbohydrate extracted from different botanical sources, naturally rich in starch, such as corn.
An important aspect to take into account when choosing an energy gel or sports drink is the rate of gastric emptying. A low osmolarity facilitates gastric emptying and helps reduce gastrointestinal stress. In this sense, seeking to have a low osmolarity, maltodextrin can be used to replace sucrose or glucose since it is also quickly digested and absorbed in the intestine. This aspect is important because intestinal disorders caused by the ingestion of carbohydrates are limiting factors in physical performance in events such as marathons and triathlons.
Combining maltodextrin with fructose can be beneficial when a high cup supply of carbohydrates is needed.
Caffeine
The studies on caffeine in the different sports modalities and with different moments of intake are external. Anhydrous caffeine seems to be more advantageous than coffee ingestion in increasing physical performance 11 . Caffeine supplementation is particularly adenosine, thus avoiding the feeling of fatigue 11 . Caffeine also seems to act as an energy substrate during exercise, reserving glycogen and increasing the mobilization of free fatty acids for use as energy. Already in the recovery phase, it may favor the replacement of glycogen 11 . The increase in the release of beta-endorphins is another way in which caffeine has a beneficial action on physical performance 11 .
