Ted Lapidus

TED LAPIDUS, a Frenchman of Russian origin, was first apprenticed to the house of Christian Dior until he founded his brand in 1951. In 1963 he joined the Syndical Chamber of Haute Couture in Paris and became one of the favorite creators of artists such as Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, and John Lennon. He is remembered for having imposed safari and unisex looks on the street. At the age of 53, in 1982, he decided to leave the reins of the company in the hands of his son. The house stopped producing haute couture collections in the year 2000 and now the Lapidus legacy is based mainly on the design of perfumes and watches. In 1970 he successfully launched his line of perfumes in collaboration with L'Oréal, which have become recognized throughout the world thanks to their strong identity. The masculine fragrance is its strong point with Black Extreme, Alcazar and Lapidus Pour Homme.
