Who is Perblan?

What is Xylitol?

Xylitol is a natural sweetener that, in addition to replacing sugars that deteriorate teeth, helps prevent dental caries by preventing the growth of bacteria that cause it.

Xylitol is a 5-carbon alcohol derived from D-xylose whose mechanism of action is to inhibit bacterial growth, mainly Streptococcus mutans, in saliva. It also has other effects such as avoiding gingival inflammation, reducing the adherent effect of microorganisms and preventing enamel demineralization, since it reduces acid production (Suescún EA, Arroyave MC & Gómez EJ, 2012).
