Salvatore Ferragamo

The designer SALVATORE FERRAGAMOS was born in 1898 in Bonito, a small town in the Italian region of Campania and he was only 9 years old when he created his first pair of shoes. After studying shoe design in Naples, he opened a small shop in his parents' house. In 1914 the shoe designer moved to Boston where he began working in a cowboy boot factory. Years later, and together with his brothers, he moved to Hollywood where he achieved great success creating custom shoes for celebrities and movie characters of the time. Salvatore Ferragamo has always been characterized as a dreamer who created great works of art and has become an inspiration for many other shoemakers.
