In 1962 Jean Bousquet created the fashion and perfume firm Cacharel in Nîmes (France). As a child, Bousquet had contact with the world of fashion through his father's trade, who was a sewing machine salesman. He studied to be a tailor and spent two years working as a designer before founding his own company. Cacharel's early designs, young, feminine, light and brightly colored, were very successful. This success earned him in 1963 that ELLE magazine published one of his creations on its cover. Thanks to this publication the brand became known worldwide. In 1978, Cacharel trusted the house of L'Óreal to launch his first perfume, Anaïs Anaïs (a perfume that is still the brand's most famous perfume today). It was followed by many other perfumes.
